Meet Dr. Anderson
Ralph L. Anderson, D.D.S., Emeritus
Dr. Ralph L. Anderson has been setting the highest standards in dental and orthodontic excellence in the Richmond, Virginia area for the past 42 years. He earned his undergraduate degree from Virginia State University and then entered the military. He became a 2nd Lieutenant in the 101st Airborne Division before transferring to the medical service corps. In 1966, he applied for and received a release from the military and enrolled in the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry. Dr. Anderson obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from there in 1970. After graduating, he completed a U.S. Army Dental Internship at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. In 1975, Dr. Anderson graduated from the orthodontic program at MCV and went on to complete his orthodontic residency at MCV. He was the first African-American to complete MCV's orthodontic residency program.
He started Anderson Orthodontics in 1978 and retired from active treatment in 2012. While Dr. Anderson no longer sees patients actively, he continues to teach orthodontic residents at VCU School of Dentistry. He also consults our doctors when needed.
In his spare time away from the office, Dr. Anderson volunteers with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
